Dr. Rudolf Albrecht, Vice-Chief Financial OfficerResponsibilites: Liason international organizations, outreachCareer: Born 1946 in Vienna, studied astronomy and physics at the University of Vienna (doctorate 1970), until 1972 Postdoc at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. Assistant professor at the Univ. Observatory in Vienna until 1981. 1981 to 1984 Head of the scientific data handling at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. From 1984 to 2008 at ESA / ESO Space Telescope European Coordinating Facility in Munich (from 2004 as head). Intense public outreach. More than 100 refereed publications. Im oberösterreichischen Stift Schlierbach lief dieser Tage die
Landesausstellung rund um das Thema Ernährung und Genuss
an. Mit dabei: Das ÖWF mit Exponaten von Raumfahrtnahrung
des diesjährigen Polarstern-Preisträgers, Michael Köberl. "Im
Ausstellungskatalog gibt es neben einer detaillierten
Beschreibung der Exponate eine Hintergrundartikel zum Thema
Raumfahrt und Ernährung" freut sich ÖWF Obmann Mag.
Gernot Grömer, "aufgrund eines Kontaktes bei der "Der Weg ins
All"-Ausstellung im Stift St. Florian bei Linz konnten wir
diesen etwas ungewöhnlichen Zugang zum Thema Genuss
vermitteln". Einmal eine "etwas andere" Weise, das Thema
Weltraum schmackhaft zu machen!

Mit der Veranstaltungsreihe ,,Der Himmel verkündet es..." schließt sich das Stift der Benediktiner in Melk, selbst Teil des UNESCO Weltkulturerbes der internationalen Schar der Gratulanten zum Jahr der Astronomie an und beleuchtet ausgewählte Themen von astronomiegeschichtlichem Interesse.

Auf der heurigen Innsbrucker Herbstmesse, die erstmals an fünf
Tagen, vom 07.10 bis 11.10.2009, stattfindet, wird auch das ÖWF
mit einer Sonderausstellung zum Thema Weltraum vertreten
sein. Für das dort geplante umfangreiche Programm suchen wir
ab sofort nach freiwilligen Helfern.
