Dr. Ingemar Skoog joins PolAres STAB
As one of the most important programme quality assurance measures, the "Science and Technology Advisory Board" is an external consultancy body to the PolAres management. Effective of January 2009, we welcome a new team member in this senior group, Dr. Ingemar Skoog, who has a long and impressiv track record in life support systems.
Dr. Skoog, born in Sweden, was the industrial project manager for the EVA200 suit project, Europe's only effort of developing a spacesuit for the Hermes programme in the early 90ties. He was the programme manager at Astrium GmbH in Friedrichshafen, Germany between 1986 and 1994. During this period he enjoyed a close working relationship with Russia and Zvesda which culminated in a joint development effort not only for the Hermes spaceglider extravehicular mobility suit but also the Mir 2, later ISS. He authored many technical articles, but might be best known for his publication on russian spacesuits which is one of the authorative sources for eastern spacesuit developments. He has several decades of experience with life support systemn for human spaceflight activities.
"Dr. Skoog is an excellent addition to the advisory board" comments Gernot Groemer, member of the PolAres Programme Management "and will certainly give a boost to the Aouda suit development team. His outstanding track record in suit life support systems, his professional network and management experience will be of great value to the programme - we are very much looking forward to a fruitful collaboration."
